Swept Away
Like so many coastal areas, Seaside, FL is seeing its once-abundant natural life and cultural heritage slowly swept away by unforgiving storms, over-development and tourism. Lisa Endriss and Gail Gregg, artists in the community’s “Escape to Create” program, invited local residents to identify elements of Panhandle life that were disappearing. Their observations were then inscribed on the white sand beach, where waves transformed them into ghostly impressions that faded slowly into the surf.
